Shockwave Therapy

Focused acoustic energy that stimulates blood flow and tissue remodeling in stubborn tendons and joints — no needle, no downtime, no surgery.

What shockwave therapy is — and why it works.

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) delivers high-energy focused acoustic pulses into injured tissue from outside the body. Those pulses create a controlled microtrauma that stimulates natural healing through five mechanisms: enhanced blood flow and new vessel formation, increased collagen production, pain reduction (the shockwaves block pain signals to the brain for immediate relief), breakdown of calcified tissue, and tissue regeneration. RegenCore also offers a SoftWave version.

It’s entirely non-invasive — no injection, no anesthesia, no recovery time. Sessions take minutes and are typically delivered in a short series. For chronic tendinopathies, shockwave can succeed where rest and physical therapy alone have stalled, and it pairs powerfully with orthobiologic treatment.

Non-invasive · no downtime

Energy that restarts a stalled repair.

For chronic tendon pain that won’t resolve, shockwave can reopen the body’s repair pathway — often the missing piece in a recovery.

Delivered in-office in short sessions, frequently combined with PRP, EMTT or a guided rehab plan for a compounding effect.

How it works

What to expect

From evaluation to recovery, here’s the path.

  1. 01

    Step 1

    Evaluation & diagnosis

We confirm the source of your pain with exam and diagnostic ultrasound to target the right tissue.

  2. 02

    Step 2

    Treatment session

A handpiece delivers focused acoustic pulses to the injury — most patients feel a tolerable tapping sensation.

  3. 03

    Step 3

    Short series

Sessions are spaced over a few weeks to build a cumulative healing response.

  4. 04

    Step 4

    Guided recovery

A simple activity and loading plan supports the tendon remodeling between sessions.

Conditions shockwave commonly helps

Who shockwave therapy is for.

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles & patellar tendinopathy
  • Tennis & golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff & calcific shoulder tendinitis
  • Gluteal & hip tendon pain
  • Chronic tendon pain that hasn’t responded to PT

Best results often come from combining shockwave with orthobiologic treatment — we’ll advise what fits your case.

Shockwave questions, answered

Does shockwave therapy hurt?

Most patients describe a strong tapping or pulsing sensation that’s well tolerated. Intensity is adjusted to your comfort, and no anesthesia is needed.

How many sessions will I need?

Most conditions respond to a short series of three to five sessions over a few weeks, depending on the tissue and chronicity.

Is there any downtime?

None. You can return to normal activity immediately, with simple guidance on loading the tissue as it heals.

Can it be combined with PRP?

Yes — combining shockwave with orthobiologic treatment is one of the most effective strategies for chronic tendon problems, and we sequence them deliberately.
